A long time ago you were able to call someone without having to worry about whether or not if the person on the other line would pick up.

If you didn’t answer then you would be left to wonder who just called you. You just had to sit and wait for them to either call you again or never know who called at all. This was a wall that would be over come with time and technology.

Soon, the caller id would be born.

Caller Identification is done by one service talking to another. The details from whoever is calling is then matched with a gigantic phone book which then tells your caller id who is calling.

This was fantastic for awhile and then came VOIP. Voice Over Internet Protocol. This creation allows for someone to call over the Internet using the same data transfer as a pc would but instead of sending pictures etc…You are now sending your voice over the internet.

You ask yourself what does this have to do with caller id?

Think about this

A great deal of people these days do not pick up their phone when they do not recognize the number.

This is partly due to the fact that person on the other end is staring at the phone caller identification and making a quick decision on whether or not to pick up to your call.

But due to VOIP having the ability to fake your caller identification it then become a prominate player in the faking of your caller identification.

This software gives you more of a chance to get someone to answer the phone by making it look like someone else is calling. So you can be anyone you want to be, even the CNN News.

This advantage has it’s bad and good points and should not be misused.
