I picked up some good vacation ideas recently!

Even though the economy is bad, we still need a little vacation now and then. I’ve been doing some research into saving money while still having a nice trip. I’ve been checking out some of the online travel websites. It seems that they all find very similar travel deals when searching for plane fares and hotels.

I can recommend a good website that will lead you to good deals on hotel reservations. Basically you want to use a travel website that has a reputation for providing a trouble-free vacation. Then I was thinking about where to go where it’s easy to find good prices on air travel or where I can drive my car. One obvious choice is Southern California. There are several airports and lots of activities for all seasons of the year.

A lot of vacation ideas are provided at the SoCal Vacation Guru site. It focuses mainly on Orange County and Los Angeles County, but will eventually expand to provide more information on San Diego County and the Inland Empire desert and mountain areas as well. But there’s great information about Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, the beaches, shopping, dining and other activities. There are discussions about saving money and how to arrange for the best trip if you only have a limited amount of time.

If you are a roller coaster fan, the SoCal Vacation Guru compares the major southern california theme parks on their thrill rides (Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm win in that category). In fact there are few places in the country where you can visit a half-dozen theme parks within a couple of hours drive from each other.

The SoCal theme parks include Disneyland (with Disney’s California Adventure), Knott’s, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios Hollywood, SeaWorld and Legoland. Of course visiting all of those would not be particularly cheap, but you could fit a lot of vacation fun into a short period of time, so you might save on airfare and hotel reservations.

Winter and Spring are probably good times to schedule a vacation, as the crowds are often lighter then at many Southern California vacation destinations. Compared to other parts of the US, the winter and spring weather in California is very reasonable.

Also, it looks like the economy has a lot of hotels really wanting our business. We might get better deals now if fewer people are taking rooms and buying tickets to theme parks. Anyway, just some things to consider as we live with the recession.

What do you know about Martial Arts Sparring?

Because the basis of martial arts is a type of fighting or self defense, the use of sparring while training only makes sense. Martial arts have been described as a system or method that relates to war or combat. Almost every martial art is considered to belong to a group of traditional studies of ancient oriental fighting systems that employ a variety of skills involving the body and/or weapons in an attempt to protect oneself or overcome an opponent. The most widespread and common martial arts include: Karate (which has many different styles), Tae kwondo, Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Tae kwondo and Judo are both Olympic sports.

There are not too many styles of martial arts that do not include sparring as part of training. This is due to several reasons, including the ability to take what one has learned and use it in a life-like situation. It would be a disservice to the student if they were not able to use and test their knowledge and skills in a safe and monitored sparring event at their school. Many disciplines actually require sparring as part of the test for a belt. Sparring also allows the student to train for competitions and sporting events. One would be foolish to attend any type of competition without having first done a substantial amount of training including sparring at their school. However, there are some martial arts that are based more on total health rather than Self Defense or Sport. Tai Chi would be one such art. But even Tai Chi, uses its own form of sparring known as “Push Hands.”

The emergence of Mixed Martial Arts, particularly the UFC (which began in the 90’s) sparring has become a critical part of any mma training regimen. Because training via sparring increases the potential for injury, it is very important to wear proper protection and only spar under the watchful eye of an instructor or trainer. You must ensure that you have the correct fir for your sparring equipment and that the equipment that you are wearing high quality and reliable. This is especially important with children and newer students who might not have as much control with their strikes as an instructor or a higher level belt. Failure to wear proper protection can cause severe injuries and may even lead to death in some instances.

When choosing your sparring equipment, safety and comfort should be the two things that you are looking for. If your sparring gear fits and looks great, but does not protect you, then it was a waste of money.

Most instructors can recommend a good quality gear for you to use. For the most part, they will want you as safe as possible while training at their schools. They will also have some insight into what style of gloves, foot protection, etc. is best for sparring in their martial art. The only thing to watch out for, is that some schools will charge an exhorbitant amount of money for sparring gear. On one hand, it is nice to support your school, but on the other hand, if you are shelling out a hundred or hundreds of dollars a month to learn, you may not have an extra couple hundred to buy the schools gear. Thankfully, there are options online for quality and affordable sparring equipment.

It doesn’t matter which martial art you are participating in. Sparring lessons are an exciting and challenging way for you to sharpen your techniques and have fun while training. The one thing to remember is that using the correct equipment is a critical key to enjoying martial arts sparring.

Are you always worried…?

I ended up in the emergency room, convinced that I was having a heart attack. The doctors did tests and told me no, it was probably only stress. Only stress I thought..? Why was I feeling like this and what in the world brought this on, and even more importantly, what could I do to get rid of these terrible feelings of impending doom..? I even thought that I might be going crazy because everyone seemed to downplay my situation. They’d say things like, you just need to chill, relax and don’t take things so seriously. Well if I could do that I wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place, right..? I needed some type of anxiety treatment and I needed it quick.

If you are experiencing feelings of constant worry, tend to make everything into more of a problem, feel pain in the chest..? Do you just feel plain old worn out and exhausted mixed with feelings of lots of energy..? Do you get the chills all of a sudden or even get really hot all of a sudden..? Do you have a disconnected feeling where things sometimes don’t feel like they’re real..?

Does your heart sometimes race, beat really hard or palpitate..? Do you sometimes worry that you’re losing your mind and noone will believe you..? If you experience most of these feelings and others along the same lines- then you’re probably going through anxiety and need some help like I did. Alot of times people want to avoid drugs and want to help themselves get anxiety treatment naturally so they can finally get their lives back to normal and on track. Visit here and learn all about what I did.

Ideal presents – for the musically curious .

It can be a last minute panic trying to think of an original gift for a close friend . The last resort gifts like chocolate or alcohol or deodorant , might be ok for distant friends or relatives, but if you know the person well enough to know that they are in to DJ’ing , then you feel a certain obligation to help them to make their own music .

The UK Channel 5 TV series the Gadget Show, with the delightful Suzi Perry, did a musical gadgets round-up recently . They featured a variety of musical gadgets , but the users choice picked the Korg Kaoscillator as their overall winner.

Great you think. They probably won’t have one if these weird little things already! But then you find Korg have no stock, possibly for 3 months. A bit of a late present that one.

But fear not because the Internet has a virtual alternative. I found out about the Chaos Wave Synth by accident as a video on the Web Video Widget network. It isn’t a clone of, but an inspiration based upon the Korg. None the less, it is still yellow, hmm that will remind them of you every day, and it certainly seems to make the same sort of “noises”. It’s called the Chaos Wave Synth and you can watch the video at their website. If you have enough laptops, you could even form the first chaos orchestra.

I say noises, but actually, with a little practice in the right hands and it seems to be quite a stonking musical instrument, with a wide range of tones and playing possibilities.

If you’re as old as I am, the XY pad (a sort of touch pad) seems a little reminiscent of the Dubrek Stylophone, infamised by Rolf De Harris, or the theremin, that wand like instrument featured heavily in 1950’s sci-fi B movies and in the Beach Boys record.

It certainly seems capable of producing those sort of tones as well, but have a sneaking feeling it will be the drum beats and bas lines that those young generation will get absorbed in to.

Being software it does need a computer, but that can be a laptop. Either way, there should be a way of getting headphones on it, to prevent aunt Mildred from being sucked up in to the poptastic songs at the gathering.

Giving musical instruments as presents, is always a bit of an issue in my book. Give a 5 year old a drum kit, and he will play (bang) it all day, much to everyone elses shragrala. So as this can be on headphones, it’s a much safer bet in my book.

It’s available as a download, so there’s no queuing at the shops to get it either and it should still be open, even on the day itself. So if the thought of traipsing around the shops gets too mind numbing for you, you may want to buy yourself a copy too. Even without any musical skill, it can be pretty entertaining.

Aah the gift of presents. It just fills you, doesn’t it? But I’m buying one for myself too. Don’t see why the youngsters should have all the fun ;-)

Happy days.

How I Started My Lawn Mower

Posted February 26th, 2009 by admin and filed in Uncategorized

Here in the southeast part of the US, Spring is ready to start. That means I need to get out my lawn mower and give it a good going over to be sure it’s ready to start all my lawn care tasks again. I like to get my young son interested in the operation because he’s about the right age to learn how to check the oil and spark plug.

Now you might think I’m a dad writing this, but no – I’m a mom. But the yard work are all mine – by choice. Spring lawn care is very fundamental because it sets the tone of how my yard will do once the summer heat and humidity get rolling.

But back to my mower. Usually the first time I mow in the Spring is to cut down the weeds that have gotten a bit beside themselves. They normally grow faster than the grass this time of year, so I cut them down before they go to seed. Last year, I got the brainy idea to mow one day when it was cool and just about to rain.

Having sat in the garage for the last four months, my mower just wasn’t interested in starting for me. Usually, I put it on the south side of my house in the sun for an hour before I need to start it up the first time. It gets nice and warm and will start within a couple of pulls. But last year, there was no sun to be found. In fact, it started drizzling on me while I was pulling the cord.. and pulling and pulling.

Frustrated and breathing hard, I decided to think it through instead of seeing if I could tire myself out before even starting. I merely needed to get that engine warm. So I put on my thinking cap and came up with a super-easy solution – my hair dryer. I plugged it into the garage wall socket, parked the mower next to it and flipped the switch.

After a few minutes of blowing the dryer on my mower, I decided to test out my theory about the ‘warm’ engine. First pull had that baby purring like, well, like a loud lawn mower. What do ya know? Even moms can come up with good ideas about engines every once in a while.

These days it is fairly easy to make money online if you know the profitable models and follow them.

No matter if you are a freelancer or a real entrepreneur there are ways for everybody to make a living online.

Products like profit lance make it easy even for newcomers to learn about ways to market online. For a regular business, going online is going to offer you some spectacular enhancements. When you build your website, you are offering a convenient alternative to your customers that they will certainly appreciate. When they don’t have the time to make it to your location, they can go to your site and do many of the same things they would do in person.

You can also collect e-mail contact information from your customers and clients and use this as a cheaper, faster means of contacting them and delivering important information. Internet Marketing has become more and more popular recently. If you’re not looking to start a business, per se, you have many other options.

If you are selling any type of physical product consider selling iz online. This was you cut out the middleman and any profits that get lost that way. The point is, whatever skill or interest you have, there is probably a market for it on the internet. And where there is a market, there is an opportunity to make money.

Before you start doing business online with other people you may want to perform a background check to make sure you are dealing with real people. On the Internet there are many scams these days and you need to verify that you are dealing with a real business. 90% of all new businesses fail but only 50% of all online businesses due. This is because there are less costs involved in starting an online business. Knowing what you want to do, how you want to do it, and what obstacles you will face are important.

Drive, determination, and an attitude of success will serve you well online. While the innovations of the internet provide new paths to success, the values that achieve success are still the same.

How To Achieve Sciatic Pain Relief At Home And Without Harmful Drugs

DISCLAIMER – The information in this article is intended for your general knowledge only and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment. Always consult a medical professional before taking action.

Sciatic Nerve Pain can be one of the most debilitating and uncomfortable pain that a person has to go through and without corrective measures it can go on for a very long time. Read on to find out how you can achieve lasting relief from sciatica at home and without harmful pain relieving drugs.

Before starting out in your quest to rid yourself of sciatic pain it is very important to have your condition accurately diagnosed by a medical professional. There are a number of causes of sciatica and it is essential that any diseases or infections are dealt with before anything else.

The main cause of sciatica is pressure on the nerve at the L4/L5 or L5/S1 area of the spine and this pressure can come from any number of sources and doesn’t necessarily have to end with surgery. More often than not the condition is caused by muscle imbalances that can be treated with the correct exercises and more and more people are turning away from the surgery option and finding success with good exercise programs that address these muscular problems.

Such muscle imbalances can result in spasms of the erector spinae muscles that surround each side of your spine, a tilted or rotated pelvis caused by tight shoulder muscles can also result in sciatic nerve pressure and general weakness in the lower back muscles can also result in disabling sciatic pain. With the right program that shows you first how to identify which areas need attention and then detail a plan for setting these right, your sciatic pain can soon be a thing of the past.

“But I need relief NOW!” you might say. Well without getting into the nitty-gritty of why the use of regular pain relief medication should be avoided, particularly long term use, the best relief you will get is from alternating the use of hot and cold packs and taking a anti-inflammatory to control the swelling of the area. Now days there are some great all natural anti-inflammatory/pain relieving products on the market and there is simply no need to subject your body to the harmful effects of regular pain medications any more.

Unfortunately there is no magic cure for sciatica and back pain and finding lasting relief takes a little bit of work but if you are anything like me after three years of suffering I saw a few daily exercises as a walk in the park compared to what I had been through.

Don’t suffer in pain any longer! Check out the Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief guide and give your body a break with a healthy dose of the all natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever Heal N Soothe. Your body will thank you for it!
